[The video switches on, revealing a confused looking child staring at it. Then, he switches it off. A couple of seconds later, the video is on again. It shows him having the same expression before turning it off again. Ritsuka switches the video on for the third time. But this time, he's looking elsewhere, frowning.]

It's not like I'm asking for help, but I really need it since it's quite an emergency.

[Ritsuka turns back to the camera.]

Can someone please tell me where I am? This place is obviously not my hometown. There are too many adults here. And that mom... She is such a nice mother, but she's not my mom.

Before I forget anything else, this cat here... is it supposed to be mine? It keeps following me everywhere. Not like I care about it, though.

[There goes the glamorous Glameow in the background, staring blankly at the screen. What a cat.]

...Soubi. [He exhales, and his voice is rather serious.]

[Even if Shiraishi here is new, too, he's already been told necessary things... so he's able to help a little.]

We're in a place called Johto... ad the cat there is a Pokémon, a creature of this world. He's yours.

You can't just give away your starter. You're supposed to travel with a Pokémon so you'll be safe from the wild ones.

[Ritsuka snaps.]

It will protect me... This cat is my fighter?

[Somehow, this situation seems familiar.]

I'm not sure about that term... but they are our companions. They fight other Pokémon to become stronger and to help their trainer move forward and we take care of them in return. [Or at least that's how he's figured it goes. Not that he knows too much about the whole Pokémon business.]

[Gives a thoughtful look.]

...Such a small creature to be most important role in our journey. I will listen your advices, mister.

Not really, since I arrived only a few days ago. I only gathered the basics. [And then there's the games, but he hasn't played them, so he doesn't mention them.]

She just makes my wonder why anyone would send their child on a pokemon journey or anywhere else at the age of ten. [Then again, Winry knows Ed and Al, but they didn't have a choice... It's not the same thing, not at all!]

It seems to be the logic is part the habit. You did say she's everyone's mom, and she wouldn't think twice about it.
